Multilinual component of Ufa signboard ergonyms

Abstract
The article investigates cross-language contacts within Ufa ergonyms. The material of the investigation is represented by Ufa signboards recorded in 2025. Ufa, the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan, is a hub of cross-cultural and cross-language processes, which include the interpenetration of IndoEuropean, Turkic, and other languages. The investigation, classification and quantitative parameterization of such multicultural and multilingual processes on the ergonymic material of Ufa make up the aim of the conducted investigation. The investigation is based on such parameters as the number of languages engaged in the ergonymic representation of Ufa signboards and the character of interlingual relationships within an ergonym. Three types of ergonyms, presented on the signboards of Ufa, have been discovered on the basis of the first parameter – unilingual, bilingual, and trilingual. We have elicited two types of cross-lingual relations on the basis of the second parameter: 1) an ergonymic unit of one language is embodied on the signboard by means of alphabetic symbols of a different language; 2) a language changeover is implemented within an ergonym. Two sub-types of a language change-over within an ergonymic unit have been singled out: 1) a morphemic language switch within the boundary of an ergonymic lexeme; 2) a lexemic language switch within the boundary of an ergonymic phrase. The article presents the results of a quantitative analysis of the detected taxonomic types and provides percentage ratios of the languages, involved in the representation of Ufa ergonyms and hierarchized according to their frequency.
