Abstract
The article is devoted to the folklore of modern Tatar literature. The choice of film texts, addressing oral folk art as the subject of our analysis, is not accidental: The modern cultural paradigm manifests a special type of attitude to folklore images and to their embodiment in a literary text. The research is based on Pavel Moskvin’s screenplays “The Soldier’s Hat” (2020) and Airat Orazov’s “Korab” (“The Ship”) (2024). The article proves that many of the images in the analyzed film texts have their roots in folk mythology and folklore (Mari and Tatar). By engaging in a dialogue with ancient folk traditions, the screenwriters enrich the original sources with new artistic interpretations of traditional images. The analysis revealed intertextual connections between the scripts, film texts and iconic works of Tatar and Russian literature. The article concludes that the analyzed film texts by P. Moskvin and A. Orazov are creolized ones where visual and verbal elements are equal in importance.
