A linguodidactic model for the development of lexical competence in international university students in classes of Russian as a foreign language: Corpus technologies (based on the gastronomic vocabulary)

Abstract
This article presents a linguodidactic model for the development of the Russian-language lexical competence in Chinese university students (level B1-B2), based on the National Corpus of the Russian language. The relevance of the research is due to the high potential of corpus technologies in teaching Russian as a foreign language and their insufficient use in the pedagogical practices of language universities. The purpose of the research is to theoretically substantiate, develop and experimentally verify the effectiveness of linguodidactic modeling used to develop lexical competence of international students by means of corpus technologies. The article considers the concept of “lexical competence”, the features of using corpus technologies in classes of Russian as a foreign language, and a model for the development of the lexical competence in Chinese students using the National Corpus of the Russian language. We present the results of the experimental verification of the model using the example of Russian gastronomic vocabulary. The implementation of the pedagogical experiment was conducted with two groups – the control group and the experimental group – revealing the development dynamics of receptive and productive aspects of the lexical competence in international students (3.42 in the control group and 21.2 points in the experimental group). The results prove the effectiveness of the use of corpus technologies in the development of the lexical competence in international students. Additionally, we offer methodological recommendations on the implementation of the developed model in classes of Russian as a foreign language for students of language faculties. In the final part, the article outlines the prospects for further integration of corpus technologies into the educational process.
