Abstract
The aim of this article is to reveal the linguo-methodological potential of fine art works in teaching Russian as a foreign language. The relevance of the research is determined by the sustained interest in the integration of art into the practice of teaching RFL, and the need to develop an effective methodology for studying a painting in order to develop linguistic, cultural, and communicative competencies in international students. The work examines the possibilities of a painting as a source of authentic linguistic material, a means of developing communicative competence, and a tool for conveying the cultural and historical experience of the Russian people. The article presents the criteria for selecting works of art to be used in the RFL instruction and identifies the main stages of working with them. The study substantiates the expediency of including K. Vasiliev’s artistic heritage in the RFL educational process as a means of accumulating and representing key cultural meanings and spiritual constants of Russian society. A thematic classification of K. Vasiliev’s paintings has been developed to optimize their use for educational purposes. We propose methodological techniques, aimed at expanding the cultural horizons of international students, developing and activating various types of speech activities through the means of Fine Arts in RFL classes. The research concludes that the application of works of Russian art is effective in teaching Russian to international students.
