Abstract

The relevance of the research topic arises due to the frequent questions asked by the new generation that might determine how well or how poorly the individual’s socially oriented personality has been formed:

Who am I? My “I-Concept”.

What is my place in society?

What do I want my homeland to be like? and so on.

We attempt to find answers to these and other questions related to the process of forming a socially oriented personality by conducting an interdisciplinary study at the intersection of psychology, sociology, pedagogy, didactics, and methods of teaching foreign languages. The research task of the study is to identify the role of foreign language learning in the formation of a socially oriented personality.

The hypothesis that learning foreign languages can help students navigate the complex and ambiguous multilingual world of today, has been validated by the results of the conducted pedagogical experiment, which included a pre-experimental stage: a content analysis of scientific and educational-methodological literature, questionnaires and a test for 3rd year students majoring in pedagogical education.
