Abstract

The article examines the specifics of creating an intertextual field in V. Plevin’s novel “T”.

The purpose is to discover the intertextual connections of the novel both with the pretexts and with the various works of Pelevin himself.

Based on the principles of comparative historical, mythopoetic and intertextual methods, as well as on the method of a holistic analysis of works of art, the article has established that, just like in his early novels, the writer both creates the author’s neomyth and debunks it using intertextual connections, which, on the one hand, is associated with the ridicule of cultural archetypes and mythologemes of our time (images of Dostoevsky, Nabokov, etc.), on the other hand, is related to the fundamental centricity of the world that is being created before the eyes of the reader (in “T”, intertextmes of ancient mythology, Buddhism, Dante’s “Divine Comedy”, etc. are intertwined). In the novel “T”, intertextuality, firstly, asserts the equality of the mental and the real world, the unity of fictional and genuine reality (owing to the references to V. Pelevin’s early novels). Secondly, it becomes the key principle of creating the author’s neomyth about Leo Tolstoy, based on debunking and parodying its key components (the idea of simplification, non-resistance to evil, religiosity, acquaintance with Dostoevsky).
