Prof. Galimullin’s contribution to the history of Tatar literature studies (on the 80th anniversary of the scientist)

Abstract

   The article studies the scientific, scientific-critical and popular science activities of Foat Galimullin, professor of Kazan Federal University. The work reveals the scientist’s contribution to the study of the history of the Tatar literature development, its individual eras and the work of writers who have determined the creative potential of Tatar national literature. Foat Galimullin is a well-known Tatar literary critic, an honored worker of culture of Tatarstan and the Russian Federation, the author of about a thousand critical and popular science articles in the field of the history of Tatar literature, sixteen monographs and collections of selected works, as well as textbooks and educational aids on Tatar literature for educational institutions. In the last decade, the scientist has paid special attention to the study of the Tatar literature phenomena in the broad context of Turkic literature, as well as in the dialogue among cultures and literatures of the Volga and Ural region peoples. The analysis of the scholar’s main scientific works allows us to draw conclusions about Foat Galimullin’s prominent and active role in the modern literary process; his scientific, critical and popular science research as a whole represents an objective assessment of the literary process of the 20^th century, it can be called a chronicle of the modern Tatar literature development. The scholar’s scientific-critical activity is a significant contribution to the creation of an objective picture of the national literary process in the twentieth century.
