Feminitives in academic discourse

Abstract
The problems of gender and professional self-identification are relevant today, and they are actively reflected in the field of academic discourse. Due to the fact that the problem of feminitives in linguistics is quite new, this phenomenon has been little studied, the problem of feminitives in academic discourse has been considered for the first time.
The purpose of this study is to form the definition of feminitives in academic discourse and to identify the relevance of their use in the modern scientific community.
The present study was carried out with the help the following methods: the descriptive method, including observation and interpretation, which was used while working on the theoretical part, and the questionnaire method, followed by a quantitative analysis and a description of the statistic data obtained. As a result of our research, it was revealed that the majority of female scientists, who have different scientific degrees and work positions at universities and who took part in our survey, accept feminitives in everyday discourse, while existing feminine derivatives in academic discourse are not considered acceptable by the recipients themselves and their use is undesirable for the addressees. The obtained research results contribute to the study of the problem of feminitives in general and open a new trend in the study of academic discourse.
