Author Guidelines

General information

The journal " Филология и культура.  Philology and Culture” is included in the list of Russian peer-reviewed scientific journals, which publish basic research results of dissertations for the academic degrees of Doctor and Candidate of Sciences (Ph.D.)

The submitted papers should meet high scientific criteria (relevance, scientific innovation, etc.). The text of the articles should primarily contain links to the publications of the last 15 years. The journal does not consider previously published papers or papers which are under consideration for publication elsewhere.

All manuscripts are reviewed. The authors are informed by e-mail about the results of the review and the decision of the editorial board concerning the acceptance of the paper for publication in the journal “Филология и культура. Philology and Culture”.

Minor corrections of stylistic and formal character are made in the text without the consent of the authors. In case of a more serious correction, the paper is sent to the authors for revision.

Manuscripts are not returned.

Acceptance and Publication

The editorial board accepts papers exclusively in electronic form (Word format, .doc file type) sent to the email address of the journal: journal@ifi.kpfu.ru

Papers must be within the volume from 20 000 to 40 000 characters (including spaces).

Abstracts in Russian and English should include the research focus, the issues addressed in the paper, its purpose, and significant results/conclusions. The main text citations should be avoided. The average length should range from 150 to 250 words. The abstract should contain all the keywords (5-7 concepts, terms and proper names).

Brief information about the author in Russian and English should be provided at the end of the article:

-Surname, first name, middle name (in bold).

- Academic degree (if any).

- Position, place of work with the postal address and e-mail (information - 12 pt, postal address - 10 pt).

Fictional texts and historical sources should be given in the original language; in case of translation, the author of the translation is indicated.

The quality of images must be at least 600 dpi. Illustrations are attached to the article in a separate JPEG file with captions in Russian and English, their location in the paper must be specified. Captions are duplicated in a separate file.

After the double-pass "blind" review, the author of the manuscript is notified of the results.

Information about the author should be assembled in the order listed below:

References are drawn up as follows:

- Список литературы (in the middle);

- References to literature should be listed in the alphabetical order: first in Russian, and then, in a foreign language (according to the alphabetical order of the English language);

- References (in the middle);

- Transliterated references (the order must be changed according to the alphabetical order of the English language).

Please, format your manuscript on the following pattern:

The text of the manuscript must be submitted on A4 sheet in accordance with GOST 9327-60, portrait orientation, font Times New Roman, 14 point type, line spacing 1.5.

- MS Word Format.

- Margins: top and bottom - 2 cm, left and right - 2 cm.

- Indentation: 1.25.

- Text-align: width.

- Letter spacing: standard.

- Square brackets: Latin keyboard.

- Inter-word space: one sign. Spaces are required after all punctuation marks (including dots) and contractions: i. e., e. g.

Two consecutive punctuation marks cannot be separated by a space, for example, M., 1995. In personal names all the elements are separated by spaces, for example: A. S. Pushkin.

A hyphen should be different from a dash, for example: socio-cultural (hyphen), Russian literature of the late 19th - early 20th centuries (a dash with a space on the left and the right and no spaces in numbers and dates, for example: 1960-1970, pp. 52-65.

Quotation marks in the Russian text of the manuscript:

- French (« ») and German, inside quotes (,,  “).

Model:

«Роман И. С. Тургенева ,,Отцы и дети“ был опубликован в журнале ,,Русский вестник“».

- Use English single quotes in translations of foreign language words.

Model:

Критика в комментарии может быть также выражена при помощи лексемы leider ‘к сожалению’.

- Use English double quotes in English texts.

Model:

I. S. Turgenev’s novel “Fathers and Sons” was published in the journal “Russian Messenger”.

Full stop, comma and semicolon at the word with the superscript footnote mark are placed after the footnote mark.

Use the Latin keyboard for Roman numerals.

The Russian letter ё / Ё is replaced by the letter e/ E except for the meaning-distinguishing cases and proper names, such as Генрих Бёлль (Heinrich Böll).

When typing, do not use styles, or columns.

Do not use spaces between paragraphs.

When highlighting your text, follow these rules:

Use boldface for headings and sub-headings.

Letter spacing should be used to emphasize the meaning.

Use light italic fonts for short examples.

Model:

Значение оборота «по сравнению с чем-нибудь» в составе устойчивой конструкции против /противу прежнего: …. Я думал издерживать втрое против прежнего, вышло вдесятеро… [Пушкин, т. 8, с. 7–47].

A small font with spacing from the main text (one and a half spacing, font 12) should be used for fragments of poetry and prose text.

Model:

Thus, in A. I. Kuprin’s text we read:

В середине августа, перед рождением молодого месяца, вдруг наступили отвратительные погоды, какие так свойственны северному побережью Черного моря. То по целым суткам тяжело лежал над землею и морем густой туман, и тогда огромная сирена на маяке ревела днем и ночью, точно бешеный бык. То с утра до утра шел не переставая мелкий, как водяная пыль, дождик, превращавший глинистые дороги и тропинки в сплошную густую грязь, в которой увязали надолго возы и экипажи [Куприн, с. 3].

 

Manuscript Format

At the beginning of the paper, UDC should be stated (in the upper left corner).

The title is in the middle, without indentation, in capital letters.

Author (s):  first name and surname.

Next, you need to duplicate the title of the paper, your first name and surname in English.

The abstract in English (space1.5, font 12) follows.

The keywords in English should be in italics.

The abstract and keywords in Russian are drawn up in the same way.

The main text.

Список литературы.

References.

Information about the author: in Russian and English.

 

Notes and bibliographical references

Notes are made using footnotes and an Arabic numeral index as a footnote mark. References in the notes are made according to the rules of formatting references.

References – endnotes are drawn up in accordance with the national standard of the Russian Federation GOST R 7.0.5-2008 "Bibliographic References" (of 01.01.2009).

Mind! The number of pages in publications and the pages of the cited articles must be specified.

References to foreign sources follow Russian publications.

References in the text should be given in square brackets, indicating the authors' names (if the document was created by one or three authors), or titles (in case of four or more authors and collective works), as well as, if necessary, a volume number and a page in case of direct citation. For example: [Pushkin, vol. 2, p. 287]. The publication date is indicated only if there are references to other books of this author.

References to the archives and manuscript collections are drawn up according to general rules. They are given in square brackets in the text and are entered in the list of references.

For references to online resources use the acronym URL (Uniform Resource Locator) and the date of access.

For example: URL: http://www.ruslit.ru (accessed: 12/01/2016)

A list of references is drawn up in the original language of the publication with the obligatory indication of the place of publication, publisher, year and number of pages.

A list of deciphered abbreviations should be added to the paper.

Text transliteration

(a step-by-step instruction)

  1. On the main page of the site, choose "Russian transliteration," variant BSI in line http://translit.net"Enabled" (with the exception of proper names and titles of periodicals, which should be transliterated according to the established tradition).

For example:

Вопросы языкознания = Voprosy jazykoznaniia, not : Voprosy iazykoznaniia.

  1. Copy the data on the source from Список литературы (for example:Ильинская С. Б.Константинос Кавафис. На пути к реализму в поэзии XX века. М.: Наука, 1984. 320 с.), inserted into the box and press the button " в транслит ". We get: Il'inskaya S. B. Konstantinos Kavafis. Na puti k realizmu v poe'zii XX veka. M .: Nauka, 1984. 320 s.
  2. After the author's name put a comma, then add the initials.
  3. Identify the year of publication in brackets.
  4. Give the English translation after the name of the book (in italics) in square brackets.
  5. Identify the number of pages in English.
  6. The full name of the city should be indicated, for example: Moscow, Leningrad, Kazan, St. Petersburg.
  7. Do not use quotation marks identifying the publisher.
  8. Identify the language of the source in brackets.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.

  2. The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.

  3. Internet links are provided as a complete URL. 

  4. Text should be typed with an interval of one and a half line spacing, font Times New Roman, 14 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text  (and not at the end of the document).

  5. Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in  Regulations  located in the Part "About Us." 

  6. Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the  anonymity of reviewing.
