Situational tasks in classes of Russian as a foreign language: Practical sketches

Abstract

   The article reviews the practical experience of using situational tasks in lessons of Russian as a foreign language when working with students who speak Russian at the elementary, basic and first certification levels (A1, A2, B1 according to the TRKI system). Our manual has been tested in several groups of different levels and different nationalities. We have come to the conclusion that situational tasks, used for the development of oral spontaneous speech, are especially effective in multinational groups. As practice shows, the use of this method contributes to the formation of intercultural competence, helps students to get acquainted with ethno-cultural characteristics of different nations and promotes the formation of tolerant attitude towards representatives of other cultures. Situational tasks in classes of Russian as a foreign language are done systematically, which allows us to effectively master previously studied language patterns in speech. The article emphasizes particular importance of the role of a teacher, who performs the functions of a mediator, directing and regulating the course of the discussion. The undoubted advantage of the proposed situational tasks is that they can be modified and adjusted depending on the needs of the group.
