On instability of FLT terminology system in the Russian and English languages (based on terms denoting types of reading)

Abstract
The article discusses the issues of instability of the terminology system utilized in the methodology of teaching foreign languages as a result of the large-scale terminological borrowings from the English language. Due to the high rate of circulating, English terms do not undergo the processes of adaptation and systematization in the Russian language, which causes difficulties in unifying the terminology in English and Russian. The article examines how the terminology denoting different types or strategies of reading correlates in both languages. We analyze Russian equivalents to the original English terms, exemplified by scientific texts in the Russian and English languages. The obtained data illustrate no precise correlation between English and Russian terms, which leads to the instability of the terminology system. This requires seeking new ways of systematizing terminology to eliminate errors in the usage of English and Russian terms in scientific contexts.
